Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Saturday May 9th, 2009

Do you add lotto tickets to the weekly shopping list? Play the same numbers every week and get there to find your ticket is all scrunched up and the machine won’t accept it?

It used to happen to me all the time, either that or they’d still be at the bottom of my bag when I got home because in the rush I’d forgotten to play, but not anymore, not since I discovered the National Lottery website.  Have you checked it out yet? If not I’d recommend you do, it takes about three minutes to sign up for an account with them and once you have you can play all the National Lottery and EUromillions Draws online!

They store your past numbers for you so you can play the same lotto numbers week after week, but you don’t even need to remember to play every week as you can buy tickets for up to eight weeks in advance, especially handy with the holiday season coming up.

Once you’ve purchase your tickets you don’t need to worry about a thing, the National Lottery will keep your tickets safe and if like me you always forget to check your tickets you’ll be pleased to know that the National Lottery even send you an email if you’ve been lucky. It’s the only way to play and once you try it you’ll never go back!

EuroMillions Lotto Jackpots

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Thursday May 7th, 2009

As of Friday 6 March, 2009, a new EuroMillions rule change is being implemented, meaning that the jackpot will not be able to exceed €185,000,000. Previously, jackpots could, in theory, grow to unlimited amounts as long as it was contained within the twelve rollover rule.

The largest EuroMillions jackpot on record so far, was an astronomical amount of €183 million. Even though the rule seems to be a limiting one, it still allows for jackpot expansion yet to be seen. The best thing about the new rule change is the potential to spread the wealth throughout the prize tier, not just jackpot winners. Should the lotto jackpot reach the upper limit of €185 million, excess funds over and above that amount are added to the second tier prize fund.

This means that players who match five numbers and just one of the two Lucky Star numbers in these circumstances will fare better. This has the benefit of spreading good fortune throughout a greater amount of players.
Jackpot pool caps are not uncommon, especially in lottery games like EuroMillions that allow jackpots to roll over repeatedly. The EuroMillions rule change brings the game into line with several other major lottery games scattered throughout the world.

Critics of the new EuroMillions rule change argue that jackpots of €200 million can no longer be reached and that a pureness of the game is missing. But somehow I get the feeling that if you’ve just won €185 million, you won’t be missing €15 million from your bank account.

Saturday night’s Powerball Lotto drawing has gone off and the results are in. According to lottery officials, there was once again no new jackpot winner. It means that this coming Wednesday night, April 8th 2009, has a draw that could be worth an estimated $143 million to a single winner.

Even though there was no grand prize winner, Powerball still handed out some nice lotto prizes on Saturday night. One lucky ticket holder in Pennsylvania became a new millionaire when they matched five out of six numbers, only missing the Powerball number. Their usual $200,000 prize was multiplied by five because they wisely added the Power Play option for an extra $1 bet. Another three other lucky tickets in Connecticut, Wisconsin, and New Mexico also matched five out of six numbers with out the Powerball number for that sensational $200,000 cash win on each.

Other prizes won Saturday April 4th, included thirty-three tickets that matched four out of five numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Eleven additional tickets at this prize level were also purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 3 times to $30,000 cash.

In all, more than 929,000 lucky winners took home over $9 million in cash on Saturday night.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners, there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels. Powerball is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59PM.

Euromillions Mega Jackpot Results

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday May 1st, 2009

It was one of the biggest draws ever for the Euromillions Lottery with a staggering jackpot worth an estimated £85 million to a single winning ticket holder. The draw went off in Paris at 10pm on Friday evening and in the event the jackpot was a staggering £90 million!

Plays from all over the nine participating countries flocked to buy tickets with many syndicates joining forces in anticipation of the event as lottery fever took hold. In the event two tickets shared the massive jackpot scooping just over £45 million each.

They certainly weren’t the only lucky lottery players though as a further twenty two players matched all five main numbers and one lucky star to scoop just under £200,000 each. Another 38 players matched all five main numbers without the lucky stars and each of those players will receive almost £39,000 each. A massive 270 players landed a smaller windfall of £3,700 each for matching four numbers and two lucky stars and there were many smaller winners than that.

The loto jackpot being won of course means that this Fridays jackpot will reset so players buying tickets for the draw will be playing for an estimated £13 million.

And we’re all looking forward to the next Mega Jackpot which hopefully will play in around three months time judging by past draws. Of course in the event of a rollover it could come round sooner than that.
